WANT SOME LECHON??

I am not talking about Lechon Pizza in this entry because that really makes my tummy whirl. Pizza + Lechn = Suicide (at least for me).

BUT...Lechon alone in its truest form I embrace! One of the best traditions we have every time there is a Filipino celebration.  It is so delicious that people are not bothered by the fact that it is one whole pig served on a stick. Yes, we look beyond that because it absolutely taste amazing.

What Christmas reunion would not be complete without the lechon? Or do you find yourself attending a birthday party or a wedding reception asking the person beside you "may lechon kaya?" (you think there would be lechon?)?

You know you are Filipino if you look for the Lechon. Agree? Yes!

With all the fascination with lechon and how yummy it is I was wondering how one decides to get in the lechon business. Luckily, I met the owners of the popular ELARZ Lechon, the lovely couple Manric and Michelle Zalamea (and no, they are not overweight...I know what you were thinking). Michelle, a former model is Capampangan. The "food gene" is in her. As we talked more, I could also tell that this business is something both Manric and Michelle love.

I just had to ask them one thing though, I asked them how is their lechon different from the rest? Because I believe we all love different types of lechon. Then they just let it out, they are the Pambansang Lechon. They let me in on a little industry secret, that all the lechons are really made the same way whether it's from Cebu or Manila. It is all about the meat, the flavors, and the quality. They are known to be the pambansang lechon because they serve all types of lechon in different sizes!

This is how it goes down, if Shangri-la Philippines get their lechon from Elarz then they must be the best! They do not disappoint! My aunt served Elarz for our Christmas reunion and it was great! Very juicy and tasty inside, and crispy skin. Wow!

Fine, this is it! As promised earlier on radio we will give you a chance to try out ELARZ if you haven't yet! In 3 sentences, or less, you just simply tell us why you want to win lechon from ELARZ for the New Year by leaving a comment below this post!  It is that simple! (Do not forget to include your email address so we can contact you)

Winner/s will be announced via my twitter account (twitter.com/angelicopter899) and this blog. So watch out for it and be the hero for this season's New Year's party!

  1. i wanna win the ELARZ lechon because aside from the food and the taste itself i want my friend and colleague to change his religion from adventist to a full time roman catholic christian. Maybe after tasting this treat he might end up being one of us, catholic of course. ^__^

  4. I want to win a lechon from ELARZ coz my family always dreamt of having one on a special occasion in their lives. Honestly speaking, we haven't tried buying one coz it's expensive. And lastly, my daughter and I just saw their branch in Annapolis, Greenhills, gosh! napaka-tempting ng ichura! my daughter just said... "ma, maglechon naman tayo sa new year!" i just said...bahala na.

  8. Our family gathers yearly on January 1 because we believe that if we start the year together, we stay together forever. This coming year will change that; we are spending the New Year minus most of our cousins who are already based in Singapore, so our dear Lolo Andy and Lola Chedeng are emotional about it. I just want to make this family reunion as special as it used to be for my grandparents; I really think the Elarz lechon would do the trick. Thanks, Angel!

  12. My mom and I work 6 days a week, my sister is in Singapore, and my dad works 5 days a week. We don't usually get regular dinners together, so these holidays are usually the only times we get to be complete on the dinner table. Winning a yummy lechon from Elarz will easily make this the most memorable holidays yet!:)

  13. my sibling is tying the knot 10 days after the new year and she's singing to me so i can sponsor a lechon for the reception. i badly need this lechon to serve as the king of the banquet as it completes not only our holiday gatherings but more on traditional family affairs. even though the reception shall be simple, it will at least perk up the feeling of having dined at the shangri-la with Elarz pambansang lechon and official lechon for weddings and beyond (:

  16. Hey angelika, you said "... be the hero for this season's New Year's party" but i beg to disagree. ELARZ lechon is really the hero to anyone's New Year's party. Haven't tried it yet, but with your good taste, i'm sure this one is NOT GOOD...but GREAT Lechon! If I win this ELARZ Lechon, one thing is for SURE, that i'll be able to find the GREATEST kind of Lechon in the Philippines. But more importantly to anyone who will win this "DROOLING" ELARZ Lechon, share it with your loveones in the coming NEW YEAR. Happy New Year Angelika and to your family :) -Richard

Second just reading your blog about this lechon makes me really want to try ELARZ. Lastly I'm on a strict diet right now because of a wager and now I don't mind losing on that wager becuase of ELARZ lechon.

  21. I will be leaving the country for a loooong time. I will be living in a place where Lechon is unheard of, where eating pork is against belief. I hope to spend my last days in Manila with a Pambansang Lechon feast this New Year.

  22. We usually have our family reunions during New Year's Eve, but we never had a whole Lechon because it's too expensive knowing that my mom and dad shoulders the expenses (for food.) Winning the Lechon would be great so that i could lessen their expenses and it would be a perfect time to eat such delicious Lechon. PLus it would be nice because knowing my relatives and kapitbahays to be chismosers, :) that Elarz brand will soon spread through word of mouth.. :) Great marketing strategy. :)

  23. first reason is, that would be my first lechon.. EVER. second, if ever we could afford one, that would eat up our budget for the new year so having it for free would be awesome. Lastly, I would like to share it with my loved ones and get high blood altogether.

  30. I've heard great things about ELARZ and I've always wanted to try it out. It was my birthday last December 24 and I am really saving my money since my brother is getting married come January 6, 2011.

It'll be great if I'll get the free Lechon for my whole family. We'll enjoy the Media Noche kahit Lechon lang ang handa namin :) Keeping my fingers crossed!

  31. Reading your description, I can say that ELARZ lechon is definitely worth trying, and sharing to family and neighbors this holiday season. Second, I just finished my application as a nurse to Saudi Arabia, and am waiting for my flight sched this January-- that means a PORKLESS year for me, so a good lechon would surely hit the spot of satisfying me and leaving me to want for more. Thanks.

  35. Why do I want and My Family to WIN! ELARZ Lechon?

    1. Lechon is considered by many Filipinos as a 'Special Occasion Food' so tamang-tama lang siya sa pagsalubong ng Bagong Taon >> 2011.

    2. 1 whole Lechon is quite expensive I myself cannot afford it.

    3. Need I say more it's ELARZ Lechon 'The Pamabansang Lechon.'

    I thank you *bow*

  36. I want to win that lechon because it's healthily sinful but tastefully heavenly. More than that, I want to eat some lechon but can't afford a whole ElarZ pig. Finally, I promised I'd start eating healthier this 2011 and this lechon will probably be my only lechon for at least another year when Christmas 2011 comes around. :)

  37. We have not experience having 'Lechon' in any of our celebration at home. I would like my family to have ELARZ Lechon 'The Pamabansang Lechon'in our food table this New Year's Eve. Im sure my nanay and tatay will be very happy about it. :)

But to tell u frankly, I just love meat.. I love steak.. I love ribs.. And Lechon is no different from the food that I love eatin the most. This holiday season is different, because my family couldn't believe how blessed we are for overcoming 2010. We are just looking forward to 2011 and hoping that your Lechon can signify hope of a better year not only to our family but to everyone. Happy Holidays! =)

  42. I want to win that yummy lechon for one simple reason - New Year's day is also my mom's birthday. This year will be different and extra special if we could have that lechon in our table in time for her birthday salubong. Aside from the love and care that I give her (I failed to give her a gift last year), I want to give her something that is close to her heart, and that is lechon. =)
